“Bobcat” (2026)

In this winter scene, the bobcat stands centered in a forest opening, illuminated by soft light from the right. My aim was to capture both the stillness of the season and the alert awareness of the animal, creating a moment of silent connection between viewer and subject. This painting is inspired by my fascination with the quiet presence of bobcats on Nova Scotia’s South Shore, where my family and I spent a lot of time throughout the year. Bobcats are highly adaptabe predators thriving in a wide range of habitats from dense woodlands to wetlands and rocky terrain, where they play a vital role in maintaining ecological balance.
